Poem: Pretty-faced Girl

Pretty-faced girl,
Turning heads left and heads right,
with glossy pink, flushed lips
Your smile steals breaths;
Perfection, something you shower in.

Even when you’re stressed,
You’re beautiful;
Modern day Mona Lisa,
Look at me too.

Your smile is contagious.
Pretty-faced girl
with the deepest secrets,
No one sees the black paint
hidden under your dazzling colors.

Would they still love you
If they knew the size of the hole
You have dug
under the tips of your own two feet?

Would They still love You
If they knew the amount of scars
you keep hidden under
your Pretty Face?

Happiness is something you exhibit,
A something They associate You with;
A pretty-faced girl
should always be Happy.

Do they know of the black paint,
Splattered under the blue and red
Would They even care about it?
Out of sight, out of mind.

They love You,
Pretty-faced girl,
But you don’t love them, do you?
